AHIP Congratulates House on Passage of SCHIP
Washington, D.C. - Karen Ignagni, President and CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), today issued the following statement commending the U.S. House of Representatives for voting to reauthorize and expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP):
“Today the House voted to ensure children in working families have comprehensive coverage for essential health care services, including primary care, preventive care, and immunizations. This achievement is an important building block for comprehensive health care reform. Expanding coverage for kids moves us one step closer to ensuring every American has access to high-quality, affordable health care coverage.”
Strengthening the health care safety net has been a central component of the comprehensive health care reform proposals AHIP began releasing in November 2006. For several years, AHIP has collaborated with a broad coalition of stakeholders in support of SCHIP reauthorization.
