Specialty Rx Survival Kit: Strategies for Managing the Rising Cost of Specialty Drugs & Therapies
Thursday March 27, 2008
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm ET
Specialty drugs account for $54 billion in drug spending with the annual cost per patient ranging from $10,000 to more than $1 million. By 2010, the U.S. specialty prescription spending is expected to reach $99 billion as the volume of new specialty products continues to pour into the market.
Join Evergreen Rx for a discussion on the current state of specialty pharmaceuticals, the significant pipeline, and how plans can mitigate their potentially dramatic impact on the bottom line.
The Evergreen Rx presentation will provide member health plans with the foundation from which to build their strategy to manage this impending and growing financial risk, specifically addressing:
- Current status of the specialty drug marketplace:
- Specialty costs that are rising at unprecedented levels
- Continuing launch of new drugs
- Increasing financial pressure from new medications that are substantially more expensive than existing therapies
- Proven methods to prepare for increased costs, (e.g. managing in-house or outsourcing, covering on a retail or out-patient basis, use of clinical management programs)
- Case studies of how health plans have taken control of their specialty costs through strategic planning
