WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Medicaid and CHIP Payment Access Commission (MACPAC) endorsed measures that would allow state Medicaid programs greater flexibility in operating their managed care programs.
America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) applauds MACPAC’s recommendations and agrees that states should have a more streamlined mechanism for adopting and expanding their Medicaid Managed Care Programs.
Adults, children in foster care, grade school students, moms and their newborns, people with disabilities, and seniors with Medicaid will all benefit from this recommendation. Medicaid health plans in 38 states go beyond health care to improve people’s access to services, their financial stability and social well-being, and help them remain independent in the community. Medicaid health plans connect Medicaid members to community resources for long-term housing, reliable transportation, and access to healthy food.
We encourage Congress to enact legislation in line with MACPAC’s recommendation and build upon the successes of Medicaid Managed Care.
