Washington, D.C.  Ahead of the upcoming Open Enrollment Period, America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) announced the launch of a new Marketplace training and certification course for agents and brokers. By completing AHIP’s new CMS-approved course, Agents and Brokers will fulfill their CMS certification requirements and learn how to navigate the Federally-facilitated Marketplace (FFM), Individual Market and Small Business SHOP Exchange, for the 2016 benefit year.

“AHIP and its health plan members are committed to helping consumers make the right choices for their health needs,” AHIP Executive Vice President Carmella Bocchino said. “Agents and Brokers play a key role in assisting individuals and small business owners during the Open Enrollment Period, and we are excited to offer cutting-edge training and insight to those individuals who are on the frontlines of navigating the FFM.”

This latest course builds on AHIP’s established track record of providing quality insurance education and certification. AHIP’s educational programs offer professional development resources and training on emerging issues in the health insurance industry, including health IT and ICD-10 transition; Marketing Medicare Advantage + Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; Medicare Compliance; ACA Provisions and Compliance; Supplemental Health Insurance; HIPAA-Excepted and Voluntary Benefits; and more.

Offered in both English and Spanish, AHIP’s FFM Training for Agents and Brokers will provide an overview of the ACA and the Federal Marketplace, as well as information and resources on Privacy and Security issues as they relate to the Individual and Federally-facilitated SHOP Marketplace.
