WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released Medicare Advantage proposed payment rates and policies for the 2018 benefit year. While we continue to review the notice to determine its impact on beneficiaries and the industry, AHIP President and CEO Marilyn Tavenner issued the following statement:
“Medicare Advantage works. Research continues to show that, for the same costs as traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage is more efficient and produces better outcomes. It’s better for seniors, for taxpayers, and for health care in our nation. That’s why in the past few weeks, 65 senators – Republicans and Democrats alike – signed onto a letter to show their strong support for Medicare Advantage.
“AHIP is carefully reviewing this advance rate notice to ensure that the program is protected from harmful cuts. We are committed to ensuring that seniors continue to have access to affordable, high-quality care, and that Medicare Advantage is positioned for long-term stability.”
