WASHINGTON, D.C. – Premium reduction measures in the individual market would have ensured that Americans who buy their own coverage had more affordable choices that offer access to high-quality care. We are disappointed that Congress was unable to take this opportunity to help reduce premiums for hardworking Americans.
In every other market, state and federal leaders have supported healthy markets that deliver better affordability and care. Through employer-provided coverage, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid managed care, nearly 300 million Americans see the value that insurance providers bring to improve health, access and financial security. Americans who rely on the individual market deserve the same access to stable and affordable comprehensive coverage. We will continue to work with state leaders, Congress, and the administration to ensure that every American has affordable choices for 2019 and beyond.
