AHIP submitted a statement for a February 27 hearing in the Senate HELP Committee, which focused on the role of technology and data in preventing and treating addiction. Our statement outlines policy recommendations and also discusses industry efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.
We explain our members’ role in launching the Safe, Transparent Opioid Prescribing (STOP) Initiative to support the widespread adoption of clinical guidelines for pain care and opioid prescribing. We also discuss the STOP Measure, our release of the first nationwide benchmark data on the health care industry’s progress in combatting the opioid crisis, and our STOP Playbook which outlines steps relating to prevention, early intervention, and treatment of opioid use disorders.
