AHIP Statement On Passing Of CR To Extend The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

by AHIP

January 23, 2018

The Continuing Resolution passed by Congress on January 22, 2018, extended the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for 6 years, suspended the health insurance tax for 2019, and delayed for 2 years the excise tax on employer-sponsored health plans. AHIP commended Congress for these actions:

“As long-time supporters of CHIP who are strongly committed to the care of children, we commend Congress for the six-year extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). We also appreciate the additional tax relief that is being provided to Americans through suspension of the health insurance tax and delay of the excise tax on employer-sponsored health plans. These are the kind of solutions that will improve the affordability, availability and value of health insurance coverage for millions of Americans.”
