Position Summary:

 AHIP is one of the most powerful and effective voices in Washington, whose members serve hundreds of millions of Americans every day. We influence and impact the most important debates in Washington, including health reform, rising prescription drug costs, and the future of Medicare. Our public affairs work can be seen every day, from major media outlets and across social media and the web to Capitol Hill briefings and national coalitions. The Digital Engagement Associate will provide digital communications support to colleagues across the public affairs department with a focus on AHIP’s health care campaigns. Reporting to the Executive Director, Digital Engagement, this team member will create content for Web, social media and email marketing campaigns, as well as community manage social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The Digital Engagement Associate is a hands-on position, requiring proficiency in website content management administration, digital project management and digital content creation. This position supports the association’s goals of providing a unified voice for the evolving health care industry and providing best-in-class digital resources that serve the needs of a variety of audiences. The Digital Engagement  Associate will work closely with teams across the association, especially AHIP’s campaigns and coalition advocacy and federal and state affairs teams, as well as its conference and marketing teams.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assists in posting content to multiple AHIP websites. Works in conjunction with the Executive Director, Digital Engagement and Deputy Director, Digital Engagement, to ensure all AHIP Web channels are updated, consistent, and compelling.
  • Helps create content for all AHIP digital channels, including its award-winning websites, blog and social media channels.
  • Serves as community manager for campaign initiatives, with a focus on growing digital audiences and engagement and writing blog posts, articles, newsletters, communications materials, and resources for social media channels.
  • Represents AHIP through e-mail or phone communication with AHIP members. Assists members and AHIP staff with website inquires or issues.
  • Performs training of both internal colleagues and association members related to usage of email marketing, social media and website management.
  • Gathers and analyzes digital media market research to identify and determine online opportunities and trends.
  • Performs day-to-day email management activities including, but not limited to, email newsletter set-up, creation, scheduling, testing, tagging and deployment of one-time, recurring, and triggered emails.
  • Manage AHIP’s conference Social Media Ambassador (SMA) program; including recruiting social media influencers for SMA program.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:            

  • This position does not require supervision of staff.

Skills:

  • Exemplary attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially writing-for-impact, copywriting and editing for publication.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, think creatively and maintain flexibility.
  • Ability to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Self starter and team player; works equally well under minimal supervision and within team structures.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor.

Experience:

  • One to two years digital media, public relations or public affairs experience.
  • Experience working with common website content-management systems like WordPress.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Experience in creating content for digital platforms, including websites, blogs, social media and mobile applications.
  • Experience with Omniture, comScore, Google Analytics and/or Quantcast.
  • Working Knowledge of Adobe Cloud suite package.
  • Experience working with email marketing platforms such as ActOn or MailChimp.
  • Experience managing social media ambassadors; 3rd party entities on social media.

Education:     Bachelor’s degree

Certification Requirements:            None.

Significant Work Activities & Conditions:

  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods more than 3 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day.
  • Keyboard use of greater or equal to 80% of the workday.

Percent of Travel:              10%.
