    Health Equity and Pharmacist Provider Billing

    ,

    States are increasingly recognizing the ability of pharmacists to improve access to services like point-of-care testing, access to needed medications such as pre-and post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV and hormonal contraceptives, management of complex medication regimens, and smoking cessation services. In rural and underserved communities, pharmacists may be the only accessible healthcare provider. This session highlights the importance of reimbursing for pharmacist services and how FEHB Carriers reimburse for pharmacist services in accordance with state law.

    Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Oversight

    Pharmaceuticals account for approximately 30% of the FEHB premium. This session will feature an industry leader in PBM oversight and benefit optimization and discuss the critical role of the Carrier in overseeing the PBM function. Speakers in this session will discuss how the implementation of near real-time pharmacy claim reviews with an FEHB Carrier has improved financial performance, strengthened vendor partnerships, and brought transparency to the pharmacy benefit.

    Evidence-Based Pain Management and Opioid Prescribing

    The drug overdose epidemic continues to impact thousands of Americans each year. Ensuring clinicians are prepared with evidence-based strategies to treat pain, including the use of prescription opioids, and to provide care for opioid use disorder, if present, is paramount. Speakers in this session will discuss the recently released report on clinical practice guidelines for prescribing opioids for pain.
