about

The Institute of Medicine estimates that 30% of health care spending is attributed to waste. Waste in health care not only has a financial impact, but also has repercussions on patients’ time, safety, and well-being.

A health care procedure, inpatient stay, medication, therapy, or test that does not lower costs, improve outcomes, or create high patient satisfaction meets the criteria for waste.
During this webinar, 3M will address how identification and reduction of potentially preventable events, and the use of cost-effective alternative incentives are the cornerstones of waste reduction in health care.

Attendees will learn:

  • How to use data analytics to measure and monitor where waste is coming (e.g., identifying low-performing providers and facilities with high potentially preventable events)
  • How to build a value-based program
  • How to align incentives in order to successfully sustain improvements
