It’s clear that consumer awareness of virtual care has taken an irreversible leap forward during this public health emergency: a recent J.D. Power PULSE Survey reports that, consumer telehealth awareness jumped 10% in the span of a week. In Q1 2020, Teladoc Health saw more than a million downloads of its mobile Apps and more than 60% of visit requests were from members using virtual care services for the first time.

Increased demand has affected the entire healthcare system including virtual care. Teladoc Health is now routinely conducting more than 20,000 medical visits per day in the United States alone, an increase of more than 100% compared to the first week of March, addressing COVID-19 concerns as well as allergies, dermatology issues, chronic care, second opinions, and mental health concerns. To meet elevated demand, thousands of doctors have joined the ranks of virtual care delivery.
