WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 5, 2017 – America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) issued the following statement on the introduction H.R.246, the Jobs and Premium Protection Act, a bipartisan bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act’s costly Health Insurance Tax (HIT). The bill was introduced by U.S. Representatives Kristi Noem (R-SD) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and was supported by 81 co-sponsors.
“This action to repeal the Health Insurance Tax is a meaningful step toward lowering premiums, and providing much-needed relief to families and small businesses across America. It will also help to reduce costs for seniors who enroll in Medicare Advantage plans, and for state Medicaid programs. We applaud these representatives for coming together to do what’s best for consumers. We remain committed to working together to find solutions that deliver both short-term stability and long-term improvement to our nation’s health care.”
