Washington, D.C. – Consumers with long-term care insurance are overwhelmingly satisfied with their coverage and experience. That’s the key result from a new study by LifePlans, Inc. on behalf of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).  The report gauges customer experience and satisfaction levels of long-term care (LTC) insurance policyholders.

Key findings include:

  • Nearly 90 percent of those with long-term care insurance are satisfied with the amount of coverage they purchased.
  • Almost eight in 10 customers found filing a claim to be easy.
  • 89 percent of consumers reported that they did not need to purchase any additional services not covered by their policy.

These are important findings for the quarter of a million Americans who receive benefits under their policies.  Consumers and families depend on the peace of mind and financial protection long-term care insurance delivers.  And that number is growing.  The number of individuals filing new claims exceeds 70,000 a year.

Consumers and families aren’t the only ones benefiting.  Long-term care insurance helps reduce the cost that taxpayers cover through public programs. And as the need for long-term care coverage grows, plans will continue to improve the efficiency and quality so that long-term care insurance meets the needs of the families who depend on it.
