New Report Estimates Impact of 2019 CMS Proposals on Medicare Advantage Program
March 5, 2018
Last month, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released proposed changes to Medicare Advantage that will impact the 20 million seniors and individuals with disabilities enrolled in the program. According to a new analysis by Oliver Wyman, prepared for America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), Medicare Advantage payments are estimated to increase less than reported cost trends. In addition, changes proposed by CMS to the Medicare Advantage risk adjustment model – used to compensate plans for the health status of their members – could have unintended consequences, especially for Medicare-Medicaid ‘dual eligibles.’
