WASHINGTON, D.C. – Matt Eyles, president and CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), issued this statement as 403 bipartisan leaders in Congress signed their support for the Medicare Advantage program – more Congressional supporters than ever. On behalf of the more than 23 million Americans who depend on Medicare Advantage, AHIP thanks the 64 members of the United States Senate and the 339 members of the House of Representatives who signed bipartisan letters to express their strong support for the program.

Everyone deserves access to quality, affordable coverage and care – that is what Medicare Advantage delivers to more than 23 million Americans today. That’s why it’s so important this program remains strong, stable and adequately funded now and in the future.

This year, a record number of Congressional leaders from both parties signed letters in support of Medicare Advantage. They know that Medicare Advantage sets the standard for how the free market and public programs can work together for the people it serves. We sincerely thank each and every member for their commitment to America’s seniors. We also appreciate the ongoing bipartisan commitment from both Congress and the Administration to protect the Medicare Advantage program – ensuring its long-term stability, so that it can continue to improve seniors’ access to quality, affordable health care that meets their individual needs.

Every day, more people choose a Medicare Advantage plan because it offers more choices, better quality and lower costs. We look forward to working together with Congress and the Administration to continue to strengthen Medicare Advantage as a public-private partnership that works.

Editor’s note: On February 10, the number of signers was updated to reflect 403 bipartisan leaders in Congress: 64 members of the Senate and 339 members of the House of Representatives.
