Janice Fagen
Senior Strategic Advisor, Sellers Dorsey
Janice Fagen is a seasoned expert and leader in the health care industry with over 25 years of managed care experience. Most recently, Janice was the CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas (BCBSTX) Medicaid line of business and directed five full cycle Medicaid RFP responses over the last 8 years (STAR Kids, CHIP RSA, STAR+PLUS, and two STAR/CHIP RFPs).
Of the five RFPs Janice oversaw, three of them received winning awards. Throughout the different phases of the RFP response, Janice took a hands-on approach as the executive sponsor by providing strategic guidance and partnership. As the executive sponsor, Janice conducted mock scoring exercises, readiness review panels, and oral presentations preparation to ensure the success of BCBSTX. Janice also has held executive roles for several national MCOs, including Anthem, Cigna and WellCare.
As a Strategic Advisor at Sellers Dorsey since May 2020, her portfolio includes managed care organizations (MCOs) and solution providers (vendors) who offer services to MCOs. As a former MCO executive, she had the opportunity to meet with and select a variety of companies to enhance the programs and services offered for her members. She has a passion for finding innovative ways of meeting member’s needs. She implemented an SDoH platform for her members almost 10 years ago before this concept was as accepted as it is today.
Prior to her career in managed care, Janice was a licensed professional counselor and worked in the behavioral health field as a psychiatric hospital administrator and therapist.
