Jesse Weathington

President & CEO, Georgia Association of Health Plans

Jesse joined the Georgia Association of Health Plans in 2019. He brings more than twenty years of experience both in Georgia state government and as a private sector advocate. His extensive knowledge of healthcare policy and the budget process, as well as a deep understanding of Georgia politics have enabled him to successfully navigate government and helped to shape public policy.

Jesse is a trusted advisor to many public officials and has an extensive network of contacts within the Kemp administration and among department heads, members of the General Assembly, and key decision makers across the state.

Prior to becoming a private sector advocate, Jesse spent a decade in government, including serving on the committee and appropriations staff of the Georgia House of Representatives and as Director of External Affairs for the Georgia Department of Community Health.

Since assuming leadership of GAHP, Jesse has positioned the association as a preeminent health sector advocacy organization and a respected voice on health care and business issues under the Gold Dome. He also directs a state trade association comprised of Georgia’s Medicaid Managed Care Organizations.

In 2023, Weathington was appointed to the Senate Study Committee on Certificate of Need Reform. From 2020-2021, he was elected President of the Conservative Policy Leadership Institute (CPLI), an nonpartisan organization which recruits policy-oriented individuals who have demonstrated leadership experience and who desire an advanced issue-based education grounded in conservative thought. In 2019 he was appointed to the Lt. Governor’s Task Force on Healthcare Access and Cost.

Jesse holds a Bachelor of Art in Economics from Georgia State University (GSU).
