Keith Lake

Regional Director, Great Lakes, State Affairs & Policy, AHIP

Keith Lake is responsible for advancing AHIP’s political, legislative, and regulatory agenda in the Great Lakes Region, which encompasses seven states: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin. AHIP is the national association whose members provide health care coverage, services, and solutions to hundreds of millions of Americans every day.

Keith advances AHIP’s commitment to market-based solutions and public-private partnerships that make health care better and to helping create a space where coverage is more affordable and accessible for everyone. He appears and advocates for AHIP interests before legislative bodies, coordinates with allied groups, and directs the activity of retained counsel in the seven states.

Prior to joining AHIP in 2021, Keith was the Vice President of Government Affairs for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the State of Ohio’s leading business advocate. There, he oversaw the organization's day-to-day engagement at the Statehouse and its public policy, grassroots and political education efforts, and also lobbied on health care and other issues impacting Ohio employers.

Keith also spent three years as Government Relations Representative for Delta Dental of Ohio, where he was responsible for tracking state legislation and leading lobbying efforts. His background also includes seven years in our nation’s capital, where he was Associate Director of Government Affairs for the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting, a life insurance agent trade association, and a staff assistant at the White House.

Keith is a member of the Ohio Lobbying Association and a 2017 graduate of the Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, receiving the recognition of IOM in nonprofit management. Keith is a native of the State of Illinois and a graduate of the University of Illinois. He and his wife Julie reside in the Columbus, Ohio suburb of Westerville.
