Selby L. Smith

Selby Smith recently joined the Healthcare Fraud Prevention Partnership as a Partner Liaison after working for the Investigations Medicare Drug Integrity Contractor (MEDIC) as a Lead Investigator for five years investigating fraud on Medicare’s Part C/D. Prior to the MEDIC, Selby was an Assistant Chief of Police, for Spokane, Washington Police Department managing all Detectives within the department.

In 2014, Selby retired from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) after 26 years. In Selby’s last five years with DEA, he managed the DEA Drug Diversion program for the WA, AK, OR, and ID. Selby formed two Tactical Diversion Task Forces in Seattle and Portland, Oregon which focused on the illegal distribution of controlled substances from pharmacies and providers. Selby was assigned to various DEA Offices throughout the world during his tenure, Los Angeles, Islamabad, Spokane, Washington DC, Kabul, and Seattle.

Selby holds Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He has presented valuable information numerous times to audiences as large are 500 attendees on drug trafficking, international money laundering and criminal conspiracies. He was a certified DEA Instructor. He currently lives in Spokane, Washington.
