Tonya Adams

Senior Vice President, Customer Experience & Operations, Regence

Tonya Adams is driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference for people and their families. At Regence, Tonya leads strategy and execution for Health Plan Operations functions including enrollment and group administration, customer and provider service, claims, provider operations, payment integrity, technical services, compliance, and audit, planning and business management, and learning and transformation. Tonya is also responsible for the overall performance of the Customer Experience team with its goal of simplifying the customer journey and is a leader in Regence’s efforts to promote and achieve health equity for our members and communities.

In 2020 Tonya became the national spokesperson for the White House’s Vaccine Community Connectors (VCC) campaign to overcome social determinants of health, improve equality, and break down barriers to vaccine access for Americans in at-risk communities. Launched by AHIP and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, this work continues in 2022. Current efforts include working closely with the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and AHIP on a COVID vaccine booster strategy.

Tonya is honored to be named as a Portland Business Journal’s 2022 Women of Influence and is the Executive Sponsor for Cambia’s Women’s Employee Leadership Lab (WELL).

Tonya is a seasoned health care executive with 20 years of health plan business and operational experience leading large teams in a variety of areas. She has a passion for serving customers and leading organizations through change, resulting in strategic solutions, and delivering on initiatives for world-class service operations.

Before joining Regence, Tonya was Vice President of Operations for Molina Healthcare in California, where she was responsible for enrollment and billing, appeals and grievances, claims adjustments, and payment integrity. Tonya has also held senior leadership positions with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Elevance (formerly Anthem, Inc).

Tonya has a bachelor’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University. In addition to her avid support of the American Heart Association, where she is currently a board member, Tonya serves as a board member for the Cambia Health Foundation. Previously Tonya has been a board member for UNCF and has been involved with Girls Inc-PNW.
