Wayne Saltsman, MD, PhD

Senior Medical Director, Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA)

Dr. Saltsman earned both his medical degree and doctorate, in Pathology, at Boston University school of medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at the (now) Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, in Burlington, Massachusetts, where he later served as its Chief medical resident.

He then completed a clinical fellowship in Geriatric medicine at Harvard medical school. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric medicine, and Hospice and Palliative medicine. He is a skilled nursing facility certified medical director (CMD), and he recently completed the physician executive certification process (CPE). He is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians, and the American Geriatrics Society. He is a Senior medical director for Commonwealth Care Alliance where he oversees the clinical management of its older adult and serious illness populations.

Dr. Saltsman is an elected Board member and officer for AMDA, the Society for Post-acute and Long-term Care Medicine, and he is an elected member, and past Chair, of the Burlington (Massachusetts) Board of Health. He has produced and hosted his own cable television show: ‘Your Senior Moment®’, as well as an award-winning, medical podcast: ‘AMDA on-the-Go’. He has lectured, both nationally and internationally, on geriatric syndromes, and he writes as an advocate for elder health and wellness.
