Policymakers Address Health Care Improvements To Department Of Veterans Affairs

While Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Capitol Hill this week, bills related to health care were being introduced to the House and Senate, with topics including cybersecurity and funding for Medicaid.

House:

H.R. 4723, Lynn Jenkins, to provide for the recovery of improper overpayments resulting from certain federally subsidized health insurance

H.R. 4725, Joe Pitts, to reduce the Federal deficit through reforms in spending under Medicaid, CHIP, and the Prevention and Public Health Fund

Senate:

S. 2646, Richard Burr, to amend title 38, United States Code, to establish the Veterans Choice Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve health care provided to veterans by the Department, and for other purposes

S. 2647, Elizabeth Warren, to strengthen parity in mental health and substance

S. 2669, John Cornyn-Tom Carper, to amend titles XIX and XXI of the Social Security Act to require States to provide to the Secretary of Health and Human Services certain information with respect to provider terminations, and for other purposes

S. 2649, Mike Rounds, to modify the treatment of the costs of health care furnished under section 101 of the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 to veterans covered by health-plan contracts

S. 2665, Gary Peters, to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to require State and local coordination on cybersecurity with the national cybersecurity and communications integration center, and for other purposes
