Professor Enthoven holds degrees in Economics from Stanford, Oxford and MIT, and has published widely in the fields of the economics, organization, management and public policy of health care. Dr. Enthoven served as advisor to several presidential administrations, and proposed the Consumer Choice Health Plan, a universal health insurance plan based on managed competition in the private sector. He has also served as an advisor to state government, and since 1973 has been a consultant to the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program. For decades, Dr. Enthoven’s research focused on our failing health care system and advocated for a solution based on managed competition.
