Senate Democratic Caucus, State of Michigan
Bryanna McGarry is a Policy Analyst for the Senate Democratic Caucus, advising members on health and human services issues. This includes mental health and substance abuse, women’s reproductive health, child welfare, Medicaid, social determinants of health, and several other issue areas. In her role as policy analyst, McGarry staffs the following committees:
• Health Policy and Human Services Standing Committee
• Families, Seniors and Veterans Standing Committee
• MDHHS Appropriations Subcommittee
• Universities and Community Colleges Appropriations Subcommittee
McGarry also serves as Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich’s Legislative Director. In this role, she oversees Senator Ananich’s legislative priorities, coordinates legislative efforts with other senators and staff, and monitors programming and appropriations related to the Flint water crisis.
McGarry received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan in 2012, with a macro concentration in policy and community organizing. She has worked in the Michigan legislature for almost 9 years.
