Vice President Medicare Clinical Operations,
Chimene Liburd, MD MBA is Vice President of Medicare operations with oversight of clinical operations and cost of care. Dr. Liburd is responsible for 1 million Medicare lives (individual, special needs and group retiree) . She oversees 720 clinical staff (physical and behavioral health), which includes, physicians nurses, social workers, etc. Dr. Liburd is responsible for setting the clinical and cost of care strategy in the Medicare advantage business to ensure our members receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
She has been with Anthem for Six years with a primary role as National Medical Director in Medicare Advantage cost of care and appeals. Dr. Liburd is a certified Physician Executive and holds a Certification in Medical coding. She has had enterprise committee responsibilities including Medicaid and Commercial lines of business. Prior to joining Anthem, Dr. Liburd was an Administrative Law Judge Physician for Executive Health Resources with responsibilities of representing client hospitals in hearings as well as supervising ALJ physicians.
Dr. Liburd is a native of Queens, NY. She attended Cornell University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Dr. Liburd completed her medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine followed by a residency in Internal Medicine. During her Chief Medical Resident year, Dr. Liburd embarked on attaining her Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. She owned and operated a private practice for 14 years.
