Director, Policy and Program Support, District of Columbia Interagency Council on Homelessness
Dena Hasan is the Director of Policy and Program Support, within DC’s Department of Human Services. In this role, she uses her background in Medicaid, homelessness prevention and social services to strategically align policy, program design and funding streams.
Dena leads DC’s efforts to better leverage Medicaid funding for eligible supportive services, and oversees programs that test approaches to increase housing and economic stability; synergize the eligibility policies and practices of health and human services public benefits; and drive inter-agency collaboration to address the opioid epidemic, domestic violence and other District and national epidemics. She is also responsible for ensuring DHS’s compliance to data privacy and service accessibility standards, and the client appeals process within the District’s homeless continuum of care.
