Denise H. Clayton, PhD, is a health economist at RTI International and leads Health Economics and Evaluation in the commercial practice.

Dr. Clayton’s research focuses on payers and providers, examining the impact of health policy, new technologies, delivery transformation efforts, and value-based payment models to help organizations who are implementing these new approaches to understand their impact and how to refine implementation to improve performance. She uses her experience in research design, primary and secondary data collection and analysis, and economic modeling to study the effects of new technologies and advancements on health, expenditures, and utilization.

Dr. Clayton is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Society of Health Economists, and the International Health Economics Association. She has a PhD in Economics from the University of California at San Diego where she also taught several seminars and courses on applied microeconomics. Prior to joining RTI International, she worked for AVOS Life Sciences, a boutique management consulting firm focused on strategy for the pharmaceutical industry.
