Ed O’Donnell is the Governance, Risk & Compliance Practice Lead for Optum Advisory Services and is responsible for thought leadership and expertise in payer related Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) processes. He possesses over 15 years in GRC leadership positions in Compliance, Vendor Management, Internal Audit, and Advisory Services. Ed has also held leadership positions in audit and regulatory compliance in other industries including Retail.
Ed’s expertise in the challenges facing today’s Health Plans includes Regulatory Compliance, Vendor Management, External Exam Management, Risk and Control, Process Improvement, Innovations, and Technology. Ed has led Medicaid engagements and has experience across all Medicaid products including, but not limited to LTSS, TANF, CHIP and Duals.
Ed has also led compliance readiness assessments and worked to resolve corrective action plans to enable compliance with government regulations. He enjoys working with management to resolve operational and compliance gaps while enabling process improvements that drive sustainable growth and compliance.
Prior to joining Optum Advisory Services, Ed spent 4 years as Director, Internal Audit and Advisory Services at UnitedHealth Group with a focus on engagements in the UHC Community & State domain. Prior to UHG, Ed spent 13 years in various Compliance, Risk, Control, and Advisory Services roles at a fortune 50 company.
