Division Vice President, External Affairs and Chief of Staff, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico
Janice Torrez is the associate vice president of external affairs and chief of staff for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM). In her role, Torrez is responsible for directing and controlling the overall planning, budgeting, and administration of the New Mexico division. Torrez also oversee Government Relations, Media Relations, Public Affairs, Community Outreach and Medicaid growth and retention for BCBSNM.
Torrez has over 27 years of experience as a senior executive within health care organizations in New Mexico. She was previously the president of The Resultz Group, a health care consulting firm providing business strategy and solutions for regional and national health care clients, president of The St. Joseph Healthcare PSO, the first federally-waived Provider Sponsored Organization in the country, and vice president of business development for The St. Joseph Healthcare System.
Torrez is immediate past chair of the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry’s Board of Directors and remains on the Board. She is also the chair of the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation’s Board of Trustees and is the first Latina to chair the Foundation. Torrez previously served as chairman of the board of InnovAge, the largest provider of the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly, domiciled in Denver, Colorado serving frail elderly in Colorado, New Mexico and California, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Janice holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a MBA from the University of Phoenix.
