Director, Value-Based Contracting, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee
Michael Drescher is a seasoned health care and public affairs professional with more than 25 years’ experience helping organizations succeed and navigate through challenging and complex environments.
Michael is currently Director of Value Based Contracting at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
As a member of the health plan’s Network Innovation department, Drescher helps the company develop new programs and methodologies through which health care services are delivered, evaluated and reimbursed. He has also overseen provider service and administrative appeals operations for BlueCross, as well as provider communications and stakeholder relations.
Prior to joining BlueCross in 2011, Drescher served for three years as Senior Advisor to the Governor and Communications Director under Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen. Prior to his appointment, Drescher served as Director of Public Affairs for the state’s Medicaid program, TennCare. Drescher has also served Vice President of Account Management for United Healthcare, oversaw corporate communications for a health care information technology start-up venture, and provided public relations and public affairs consulting services for health care clients.
Michael received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Management in Health Care from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
