Rob MacArthur is the Chief Medical Officer at Commonwealth Care Alliance where he has executive oversight for all clinical delivery, care management, clinical operations, and member experience functions.
Prior to joining CCA, Rob served as the National Medical Director for Optum Health’s (United Health Group) Complex Care Management business segment, the nation’s largest group of institutional, chronic disease, and dual special needs plans across 29 different states. These plans serve the needs of the frail and elderly residing in the community, assisted-living campuses, or nursing homes.
Rob is passionate about the medical care of the frail and elderly, chronic disease management, and ensuring patients achieve their expressed goals of care. His leadership expertise includes physician engagement and performance management; quality outcome-based medical expense management; and interdisciplinary care team leadership and provider accountability; as well as health plan management through interdisciplinary collaboration between network, finance, technology, sales, and clinical teams.
Rob has BA, MS, and MD degrees from Wake Forest University and completed his internal medicine training and board certification at the University of North Carolina’s program at the Carolinas Medical Center. He is a graduate of AHIP’s MD-ELP in 2008.
