Vice President, Drug Policy,
Sergio Santiviago is Vice President of Drug Policy for America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP)—the national association whose members provide coverage for health care and related services to hundreds of millions of Americans every day. In this capacity he helps develop, and advocates for, AHIP members’ public policy interests on prescription drug issues.
Sergio has been working in politics and public policymaking for over 20 years. After graduating from the University of Michigan and interning for a U.S. Senator in Washington, DC, he returned home to work in the Michigan state legislature for several years before pursuing his law degree at the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Ill. After earning his Juris Doctorate with Health Law Certificate, he returned to the nation’s Capital and worked in government affairs for several healthcare-related trade associations and companies—representing insurers, providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, wholesale drug distributors, and pharmacy benefit managers—before joining AHIP in 2020. His dog and cat allow him to live in their Washington, DC home with his wife and two teenaged sons.
