Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
With a leadership background in early-stage business building and professional services, Tom Vanderheyden is a co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Harken Health. He is excited to be leading the company’s launch, combining his professional background and personal passion for helping people.
Prior to Harken, Tom was Vice President of Development and Commercialization at UnitedHealth Group, a company he joined in 2003. He held leadership roles as Chief Operating Officer of UnitedHealth International, in divisions involving mergers and acquisitions, strategic sourcing and the launch of a large, global operation in India. Before that, Tom spent 20 years creating an IT infrastructure outsourcing business, managing a technology and consulting firm, and held sales and consulting roles at IBM.
Tom’s passion for caring for others began at an early age. The youngest of eight children, he left home at the age of 13 to enter the seminary to pursue interest in a life of service to others. Tom believes people do generally well on their own most of the time, but that they also experience times of struggle. It is in those moments that we are called to provide compassion, empathy and care to others. This is the foundation of Harken Health.
