As health insurance providers, we’re well aware of the cost of care and how that impacts our members. “Cost can become a barrier,” says Dr. Vindell Washington of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana.
In fact, research from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that nearly 10% of people surveyed said cost was a reason they chose to delay or go without care. There is an opportunity to leverage new technologies – such as home monitoring and virtual care – to evolve how primary care is delivered and remove barriers to care.
