The Policy Analyst works with senior leadership with responsibility spanning a broad array of health care policy and health insurance issues and topics. Specific responsibilities include supporting work in the areas of prevention and population health, behavioral health, maternal and infant health, chronic care management including complex care and aging-related issues, vaccines and immunizations, social determinants of health and health equity, emerging technologies, medical coverage policies, etc.
The Senior Policy Advisor coordinate and oversee activities related to health care regulations and legislation impacting the individual and small group markets, to support AHIP and its member organizations.
The Policy Analyst will primarily perform research and analysis on health care reform and health plan operations issues that impact AHIP’s member organizations. This role will support AHIP’s policy and operations work spanning the individual market (including health insurance exchanges), small group market, and employer-sponsored coverage. Day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring Federal legislative and regulatory activity and requires the ability to quickly develop an understanding of and become the go-to expert on pertinent issues. The incumbent will balance multiple projects spanning the employer and commercial markets and will develop expertise in major health reform issues related to AHIP’s strategic priorities.
Working under the general direction of Senior Vice President, Private Market Innovations & Quality Initiatives, the Senior Policy Analyst is responsible for assessing market trends, educating members, developing policy, and responding to regulatory and legislative proposals in the areas of health plan accreditation standards, fee-for-service payments to providers, innovations in healthcare delivery and payment models, healthcare data and interoperability, and other issues as they arise. This position will also participate in external meetings on behalf of the organization and be responsible for communicating the industry’s positions and advancing industry interests.
