WASHINGTON, D.C. – (December 20, 2021) – AHIP is driven to ensure everyone has access to affordable, high-quality health care choices. So it is our great honor that Matt Eyles, AHIP President and CEO, was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for 2021. This prestigious recognition program honors individuals who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be the most influential individuals in the industry, in terms of leadership and impact. The 2021 list marks the fourth time Eyles has earned this recognition.

“Every day, AHIP and our health insurance provider members strive to make health care better and coverage more affordable for all Americans,” Eyles said. “We’re fighting to remove inequities in health care. We’re addressing social barriers to care that exist far beyond the doctor’s office. And we’re listening to the needs of the people and communities we serve. Together, we are truly committed to guiding greater health.”

Under Eyles’ leadership, AHIP spearheaded many important initiatives to improve Americans’ health and well-being. The Vaccine Community Connectors initiative, led by AHIP and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, exceeded expectations by vaccinating more than 2 million vulnerable seniors in less than 100 days. AHIP fought hard for support to help Americans afford their coverage and care through the pandemic, including COBRA support and enhanced tax credits for people buying coverage through the individual market. AHIP also advocated for surprise billing rules that will protect patients, increase health care affordability for consumers, and lower health care spending for everyone.

“Americans will continue to face many health care challenges next year, from the ongoing fight against COVID-19, to making prescription drugs more affordable, to improving the individual market and helping millions more consumers get the coverage they need and deserve,” Eyles continued. “We will stay focused on the challenges that lie ahead, working to ensure that all Americans can thrive in good health.”

In addition to Eyles, 9 other AHIP member organization leaders were named to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for 2021 list (listed in order of appearance):
