Dheeraj Raina, MD, MBA

As the Medical Director SME for Substance Use Disorders (SUD), for Carelon BH and Elevance Health, Dr. Raina helps develop and implement of Carelon and Elevance Heath’s SUD strategy through local market-based initiatives, enterprise projects, and contributions to Elevance Health’s advocacy positions on SUD.
In addition to his decade in managed care, he has experience leading a state psychiatric hospital, a VA residential addiction treatment program, running a private practice, and being a rural psychiatrist. Dr. Raina is board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He did his psychiatry training at University of Illinois at Chicago after completing his medical school in India. He now lives in the Chicago area.
