Michael Sweeney

Michael Sweeney is the Vice President of Provider Relations, Contracting and Reimbursement for the UPMC Health Plan. He is responsible for all aspects of the provider network from contracting and rate negotiation to network development and provider relations. He has been in the health care field for 20 years, starting as an ancillary billing supervisor with Cleveland Clinic. In 1998 he joined Aetna USHealthcare as a provider relations representative/physician contractor where his main client was the Cleveland Clinic. Mr. Sweeney joined UPMC Health Plan in 2003 as an ancillary contractor and has worked in the reimbursement and contracting department ever since.
Mike grew up in Cleveland Ohio and graduated from Ohio University with a BA in history.
