AHIP recently responded to a Request for Information (RFI) from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), as well as the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Health and Human Services (collectively, the Departments) on Reporting on Pharmacy Benefits and Prescription Drug Costs, published in the Federal Register on June 23, 2021.

AHIP supports the Administration’s and Congress’ goal to understand how high-cost prescription drugs are increasing health coverage premiums and to identify which drugs are the primary drivers of increased costs for patients and plans. In its letter, AHIP offers several areas where the Departments can implement alternative approaches to data reporting that will still provide them with the needed visibility into overall trends in medical and prescription drug costs while ensuring the reports are accurate and minimally burdensome for plans and the agencies.
