Global Strategy Group (GSG), on behalf of AHIP, conducted an online survey among 500 disability income (DI) insurance claimants who received income payments within the last 10 years.
Key Findings:
- Satisfaction with disability income (DI) insurance plans remains high.
- In addition to high general satisfaction levels, claimants are also satisfied with the financial benefits they get from their DI coverage, as well as with the interactions they have with insurers.
- Claimants who sought DI coverage for mental health or substance abuse issues are broadly satisfied with the length of time they received DI payments.
- DI insurance continues to provide a foundation of financial security for claimants. Consistent with 2023’s results, claimants indicate their plans gave them peace of mind and both short- and long-term financial security.
- There remains strong support for the establishment of paid leave programs and for private DI insurers to play an active role in providing and managing such programs.
