About This Webinar

With the potential for $15 billion in savings over 10 years, the latest effort by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in finalizing the Advancing Interoperability and Prior Authorization Processes Rule (CMS-0057) is the most significant overhaul that we’ve seen that aligns government payers and takes aim at tackling the administrative burden.

Although an important step, the limitation of applicability to government plans leaves the commercial market open to state mandates that may align or vary from the expectations of CMS-0057. A number of states have embarked on their own initiatives, some imposing unique requirements, to continue the quest to improve the prior authorization process and reduce the burden providers are faced with when serving patients with commercial coverage.

At Cognizant, we continually monitor the regulatory landscape and the impact new mandates will have on clients and the industry as a whole. We have clients of all sizes from regional to large national health plans, which requires us to stay abreast of market dynamics to help them succeed in the markets they serve.

Attendees Will Learn About

  • Various prior authorization initiatives across 17 states and the similarities and differences when compared to the federal regulation
  • How both the Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule and these State initiatives will require health insurance providers to transform their business as it relates to prior authorizations
  • How health insurance providers will need to prepare for these changes and invest in technology to address these multiple mandates
