Vaccine Community Connectors: Clinical Leadership

Article

Published Mar 19, 2021 • by AHIP

Vaccines save lives, including approved COVID-19 vaccines. Health insurance providers are following the science to quickly, safely, and equitably vaccinate Americans to get back to the moments we all miss. As we analyze clinical studies, collect information, and analyze data to engage communities and increase vaccine uptake, AHIP and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) are grateful to the clinical leaders guiding our work:

  • Shantanu Agrawal; Chief Health Officer; Anthem
  • Kate Berry; Senior Vice President, Clinical Affairs and Strategic Partnerships, AHIP
  • Andrew Bindman; Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer; Kaiser Permanente
  • Troyen Brennan; Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer; CVS Health
  • Sree Chaguturu; Chief Medical Officer; CVS Health Caremark
  • Anne Docimo; Chief Medical Officer; United Healthcare
  • Carole Flamm; Medical Director; BCBSA*
  • Dr, Steve Miller; Chief Clinical Officer; Cigna
  • Kyu Rhee; Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer; CVS Health Aetna
  • William Shrank; Chief Medical Officer; Humana
  • Ken Yamaguchi; Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer; Centene

A core group of clinical leaders have been providing critical guidance for our many health insurance providers who have committed to the Vaccine Community Connectors pilot initiative to vaccinate 2 million seniors in communities most at risk of the devastating consequences of the virus. This is just one step in our ongoing commitment. Working together, we can and will overcome the COVID-19 crisis.
